Hints and tips
Before the first treatment with areola pigmentation
A natural result and the avoidance of complications require attention to a few key points:
✅ To be considered before treatment:
1. Consultation and information:
o Detailed personal consultation with the dermapigmentologist (DP) about the options for optical restoration
o Expectations, color selection, shape and possible contraindications, post-treatment and aftercare are discussed.
2. Clarify the state of health:
o Inform the DP about existing medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, blood clotting disorders, autoimmune diseases).
o Clarify drug therapies (e.g. blood-thinning agents, cortisone) in advance to determine whether pigmentation is possible.
3. No alcohol or blood thinners:
o 24-48 hours before treatment you should avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen or other blood thinners (only after consulting your doctor).
4. No sun or solarium:
o Avoid strong sun exposure or tanning beds for at least one week prior to treatment.
5. No cosmetic treatments in the pigmentation area:
o Avoid peels, lasers, depilation or aggressive creams in the breast area about 1 week before.
6. Not directly after chemotherapy/surgery:
o For medical pigmentation after breast surgery (e.g. breast cancer), complete healing must be complete - usually 6-12 months after surgery (6 months) or radiation (12 months). Consultation with the attending physician is necessary.
7. Clothing on the day of treatment:
o Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, preferably a soft cotton top that will not irritate the pigmented area.
❌ Clarification for the right time:
-
Active skin infections or inflammation in the treatment area, wait until it is completely healed.
-
Pregnancy or breastfeeding, wait until the hormones are back in balance, then treatment makes sense
-
Uncontrolled diabetes, customer should clarify this with the doctor beforehand
-
Known allergies to color pigments, clarify with SC International AG whether treatment may be carried out. Check allergy passport
-
If another operation is already planned at this point, wait until the operation has healed.
-
If surgical scars are not yet complete with the healing phase
-
Then the following applies: 6 months after breast surgery at the earliest.
-
At the earliest 12 months after radiotherapy.
❌ When is treatment not possible at all?
-
If you have very thin skin, we recommend the alternative of a personalized areola prosthesis made by our experts.
